The Milwaukee Theater is truly a gem of a venue. When city planners announced that they were going to renovate the old Milwaukee Auditorium, people were surprised. The building was dated, and the interior was not in great shape. One would have thought that the old auditorium could have been razed. Instead, the City of Milwaukee planned a major renovation, and then name change. What emerged from the ashes is truly spectacular.
There are four sections on the orchestra level. Those four sections face directly in front of the stage. The seating layout provides the patrons with clear site lines. It does not matter if you are sitting center, right, or left, the view will be great. The Milwaukee Theater stage is very wide. The stage height is manageable, so you don't hurt your neck when you are sitting up close.
The Milwaukee Theater has the feel of a classic old venue, but the building is very modern. The halls are wide and well lit. You will not find yourself shoulder to shoulder when leaving the theater. For the performers, no expense was spared when designing the stage, and dressing rooms.
Past performances at the Milwaukee Theater include Wicked, Cirque Dreams, Harry Connick Jr., Daniel O'Donnell, James Taylor, Andre Rieu, and hundreds more. The Wisconsin Center District should be proud of what they created when they built the Milwaukee Theater.
