Bill Hall
Bill Hall is the current center fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers; the only team he has played for in the Major Leagues. Making his Major League debut late in the 2002 season, Hall has had 428 hits and 67 home runs, with a .267 batting average, through the 2006 season. He led the 2006 Brewers team in runs (101), doubles (39), triples (4), home runs (35), RBIs (85), total bases (297) and walks (63). In fact, one of his homeruns will go down in history as the first hit in the brand-new Busch Stadium. The bat used is now in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. Center field is relatively new territory for right-hander Bill Hall, who has spent most of his playing time at third base, second base or in the shortstop position. Bill Hall is slated to play with the Brewers through the 2010 season, thanks to a $24 million deal. Bill Hall was born and raised in Mississippi. Hall was a busy athlete, playing football, basketball, baseball and track while growing up. During the 2007 home-opener for the Brewers, Bill Hall batted fourth and helped lead the team to a victory with a sixth-inning home run. Bill Hall’s numbers dropped a bit when compared to 2006. Hall suffered from the injury bug in July, but had some highlights, such as a career high of five RBI’s in June, and a pinch-hit home run in September. He was on the 15 Day DL from July 6th to July 24th. His batting average dropped to .226 after the injury. Bill Hall’s speed will be an asset for 2008. Bill Hall earned 4.9 million dollars in 2008. He slugged 15 home runs, rang up 55 RBI’s, and ended the season with a .225 batting average. He played 128 games, the fewest since 2004. He struggled at the plate to the point where he hoped to be traded. Instead of a trade, he underwent laser surgery for his vision. Brewers fans would love to see Bill Hall light that fire he had in 2006. During the 2009 spring training, Hall tore a calf muscle which put him out of commission for five weeks. By mid-March, hall played in a spring training game against the Dodgers, and felt as if he was back to top form. In the first month of 2009, Bill Hall is batting .292 and hit three home runs. He spent some time out in left field, while Ryan Braun healed up from a back injury. His time in left field didn’t last long, as Braun returned within days. Bill Hall is happy to be back at third base, and to be hitting the ball well. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
