Brian Shouse
Brian Shouse was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers from the Texas Rangers in May of 2006 for Enrique Cruz. Born not too far south of Miller Park in Effingham Il, he now plays just a few hours drive from his old home. A left-handed pitcher with a sidearm delivery, Shouse debuted in the Major Leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1993. A graduate of Peoria, IL’s Bradley University, Brian Shouse has had some long stretches without pitching, until he was able to play effectively for three seasons with the Texas Rangers. Through the 2006 season, Brian Shouse has a career 3.98 ERA, a 6-7 record, 151 strikeouts and has pitched a total of 223.2 innings. As a left-handed reliever, Shouse is working on throwing breaking balls and fastballs to right-handed hitters. To date, left-handed hitters have a .218 batting average against Shouse, while right-handed hitters reached .315. Brian Shouse and his wife have two daughters. As a reliever in 2007, Brian Schouse had a 3.02 ERA and one save. He topped the mound for seventy-three relief appearances. Schouse stranded 60 of 78 runners on base when called in to pitch. He was named pitcher of the month in August. Schouse had 25 consecutive appearances for the Brewers without allowing an earned run at one point during the 2007 Season. Brian Schouse ended 2008 with a 5-1 record. He had a 2.81 ERA and played in 69 games. He stuck out 33 batters, and had no saves.
