CC Sabathia
The Cleveland Indians drafted Carsten Charles Sabathia in 1998. He was the youngest player in Major League Baseball when drafted. Cleveland let him play on the 2000 Olympic baseball team, where he played in one game leading up to the Olympic tournament. He did not get a chance to pitch in the Olympics, as the Indians called him back to Cleveland. By 2001, he was playing in the major leagues, and won the 2001 Rookie of the Year award. He was 17-5, with over 170 strikeouts in his rookie year. In his seven years with Cleveland, he compiled a 107-71 record, culminating with a 19-7 win loss ratio for 2007. Prior to that, he made the All Star team in 2003 and in 2004. In 2006 CC was leading the Majors in complete games. He won the Cy Young award for that year. CC Sabathia comes to Milwaukee in a trade that involved minor league prospect Matt LaPorta. Sabathia finished 2008 with a record of 11-2. His ERA was 1.65 over that time. He managed 128 strikeouts in the 130 innings he pitched for Milwaukee. During the only Brewers playoff game he started, CC gave up a grand slam home run and the Brewers lost that one. Sabathia was offered a ten year deal to pitch for the Yankees. Milwaukee could not match that offer, and CC has moved on to play for New York. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
