Casey McGehee
Casey McGehee came out of Fresno State in 2003, and was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. At Fresno, he was a three-time all-Western Athletic Conference player. He also won All-American honors in 2001. Casey McGehee started playing for the Lansing Lugnuts, Class A team and batted .272. Later, he moved on to play for the minor league Daytona Cubs. He hit 30 doubles that year, with ten home runs, and 66 RBI’s. He earned All-Star honors that season. In 2005, he played the entire season with the West Tennessee Jaxx double-A club. His batting average was .297 over 124 games. He hit over thirty doubles, and smacked eight home runs. One highlight of that season was his five-hit game, where he drove in six runs. Again he went to the minor league All-Star game. For 2006, he was moved to a triple-A Cubs squad, where he played in 135 games. He hit a respectable .280 that year. In 2007, McGehee was moved around from Iowa to the Mexican Pacific league. The Chicago Cubs called McGeehee up in September 2008. He had 24 at bats, but did not perform very well. He batted .167 over those 24 games. Milwaukee acquired McGeehee in October of 2008, and plans to put him at third base for 2009. He will fill in for Bill Hall. Throughout the 2009 season, McGhee held his own and showed improvement and proved himself to the team and the fans. He struggled with a stubborn right knee that forced him into surgery post season but he kept his head up and stayed on the field throughout it all. His successes warranted him consideration for the NL rookie of the year. He has proven to be a great asset to the team and we can't wait to see him next season, hopefully in tip-top shape so we can see what hes really got. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
