Chris Capuano
Born in Springfield, MA and Valedictorian of his high school class, Chris Capuano went on to graduate from Duke University with a degree in Economics and earned a membership in Phi Beta Kappa. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1999 and also represented Team USA in the 2001 World Cup in Taiwan. In 2006, pitcher Capuano was named to his first National League All-Star team, one of just three Milwaukee Brewers representatives; he didn’t pitch in the game however. With the high of the All-Star game, came a slump on the mound. Chris Capuano turned it around and recorded a team-high 221 1/3 innings, ninth-most in Major League play and tied Houston Astros’ Roy Oswalt for the most quality starts (25). Quality starts being defined as six or more innings with three or fewer earned runs. In both 2005 and 2006, Capuano ranked second among National Leaguers left-handers in strikeouts (174), behind only Houston Astros’ Andy Pettitte (178). Chris Capuano is the current Major League Baseball Players Association Representative. Chris Capuano struggled in 2007. His win-loss record was 5-12 and his ERA for the year was 5.10. His last season with more than 10 wins was 2006. He was scratched just minutes before a game in 2007 with a strained groin. And now for 2008, Capuano starts the new season on the 15 day disabled list. Capuano injured his elbow during training camp. After seeking a second opinion on the possibility of surgery, Capuano will try his hand at rehabilitation instead of going under the knife. His rehab will last up to one month. The torn ligament in his throwing elbow may or may not heal up. Only time will tell for Mr. Capuano. If Surgery is decided, that would be the second time for Chris. Capuano is currently off the roster and in rehab for his arm. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
