More Info
Claudio Vargas made his Major League debut pitching for the Montreal Expos in 2003. Through the 2006 season, Vargas’ overall record is 32-32; his ERA is 4.92, has pitched 369 strikeouts and has called three teams, beside the Milwaukee Brewers home: the Montreal Expos, the Washington Nationals and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has been a starting pitcher, as well as pitched middle and long-relief. Married, Claudio Vargas enjoys spending time with his family at the beach. He was born in 1978 in Valverde Mao, Dominican Republic.

The Milwaukee Brewers and right-handed pitcher Claudio Vargas agreed in January 2007 on a one-year contract worth $2.5 million. Vargas has the 5th starting pitching position for the Milwaukee Brewers 2007 season, when he pitches against the Chicago Cubs. Brewers Manager, Ned Yost said Claudio is throwing well, throwing strikes and will do well for the team in 2007.

Claudio Vargas was released before the Milwaukee Brewers 2008 season start. The release made way for Manny Parra and Carlos Villanueva.

Though he signed a one year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he suffered an arm injury and started the season off on the 60-day disabled list. He was activated by the Dodgers July 3 before being traded back to the Milwaukee Brewers July 31st. He played a key role in the Brewers bullpen for the remainder of the season and compiled a 1.78 ERA in 28 appearances. His great success eventually led him to be the primary setup for Trevor Hoffman. During his last 13 games, he did not allow one run. He contributed greatly to the team and has found a new spot in the major league.
