Don Money
Don Money played his first major league baseball game way back in 1968. He spent 16 years in the majors, and eleven of those as a Milwaukee Brewer. After five years as a Philadelphia Philly, Don Money headed to the western shore of Lake Michigan. In his first year as a Brewer, Money found a spark. He had 158 hits, scored 54 runs, drove in 61 RBI’s, and upped his batting average up to a respectable .284. Something worked for Don when he came to Milwaukee, and the Brewers were happy to have him on the squad. One of his most productive seasons was 1977. Don had almost 160 hits and 25 home runs. He had a career high 83 RBI’s with a .279 batting average. A quick scan of his stats also reveals that he played all the infield positions save for pitcher and catcher. The bulk of his time was at third, having played over 1000 games at that position. Money was known for his errorless streaks while at third base. He holds the record of 86 games without an error. Don Money did play for Milwaukee during their only World Series appearance. This came at a time when his career was coming to an end. Prior to that, Money was a three-time All Star pick. Money’s last season came in 1983. He spent a very short time playing in Japan, but decided to come home to America after only one month. Don currently manages the Huntsville Stars, a double A Brewers team. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
