More Info
Born in Hermosillo, Mexico, Elmer Dessens was added to the Milwaukee Brewers pitching roster, from the Los Angeles Dodgers’ for then Milwaukee Brewer Brady Clark, just prior to the 2007 season beginning. With 10 years Major League playing experience, Dessens has played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Kansas City Orioles, the Cincinnati Reds and the aforementioned Dodgers.
With a career average 4.41 ERA, the Milwaukee Brewers are hopeful that this acquisition of Elmer Dessens will be one more veteran weapon to turn to in the bullpen for middle and long relief, and potentially as a spot starter.
Elmer Dessens is married with one son, Elmer Jr., who was born in 2002 just one minute after Elmer’s arrival at the hospital. Dessens, playing for Mexico, pitched a total of four scoreless innings in the inaugural World Baseball Classic.
For 2007, Elmer had an ERA over 7.0. Elmer left the Brewers in 2008 for the Pirates
