While playing for the Los Angles Dodgers, Gagne became one of the best closers in MLB. Gagene won the Cy Young Award for 2003. Sadly, he didn’t play as much in 2005 and 2006 due to injury. He had "Tommy John Surgery" in 2005. To make matters worse, Gagne’ injured his back in 2006.
For 2007, Gagne signed with the Rangers and had a successful season up until July, when he was traded to the Boston Red Sox. Gagne made one appearance during the World Series.
Gagné signed an agreement with the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2008 season. Milwaukee hopes to use Gagne as a replacement for Cordero. Gagne has the potential to earn 11 million including incentives.
On his first day as a Milwaukee Brewer, Gagne gave up the game-tying home run against the Cubs. Following the homer, Gagne struck out the side and got the win for the Brewers.
Gagne was a free agent at the end for the 2008 season. He had is worst season as a pro. This didn't sit well wiht the Milwaukee Brewers fans. Halfway through spring training, Gagne was released by Milwaukee.
