More Info

For a short time, Gabe Kapler retired from Major League baseball. Kapler signed with the Brewers as a free agent in December of 2007. His ability to play all three positions in the outfield is an added bonus.

He claims that he would like to be a chef if he wasn't a pro ball player. He spent 7 years in the majors, playing for Detroit, Texas, Colorodo, Boston and now Milwaukee.

He spent some time playing in Japan in 2004. Selected deep into the 1995 First-Year player draft by the Tigers, he didn't get called up until 1998. In 1999, he hit 18 home runs, and batted .245.

Gabe has managed to play solid baseball in the first six games of the season. He's batting a .438 with two home runs, with 7 hits over 16 at bats. This impressive performance comes after a great spring training.

Gabe went on to sign with the Tampa Bay Rays for 2009. As a Brewer, he had a .301 batting average, and hit 8 home runs. Finding a pinch-hitter will be the first order of business, as Kapler batted .323 in that role.
