Jason Kendall
Jason Kendall's father was a major league catcher. Following in his dad's footsteps, Jason Kendall has been catching MLB pitches for 12 years. Kendall’s highlights include the Jim “Catfish” Hunter award in 2006, the 2001 Dapper Dan Award, and the 1998 Roberto Clemente Award. In 1996 he was the recipient of the The Sporting News Rookie of the Year Award. That same year, Jason made the All Star team. In 1997, he had 139 starts as catcher and was hit by 31 pitches. In 1998, he topped his starts record with 143. He batted .327 and drove in 75 RBI’s. In 2004, Kendall had a 20 game hitting streak, batted .319, and led the league with 145 starts. For 2006, Kendall went 69 games without an error, and drove in 53 RBI’s. Jason Kenall signed for one year in 2008 with an option for 2009. In 2008, Kendall threw out nearly 40% of base stealers. He is considered to be a work horse catcher, and has the ability to keep Brewers pitchers cool. Kendall had an average season at best in 2009, struggling in most of the earlier games. During the month of May, Kendall seemed to snap out of his funk where he had 12 hits over 30 at bats in that time. He held his own among leaders in the leauge with 17 HBPs and a .331 OBP. His great leadership skills and how he conducts himself behind home plate make him a great asset to the team when his duties are kept within reason. © 2010 MilwaukeeBrewersTicket.net Terms of Service |
