Ken Macha will start as manager of the 2009 Milwaukee Brewers. As a player, he started with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He put in six years in the majors, and then moved on to play in Japan.
By 1986, Macha was coaching for the Expos. After six years with the Expos, he was par to of the California Angels crew. In 2003, Ken Macha started his management position at Oakland. That year, his team was thirty games above .500, when they lost to the Red Sox in five games.
The two years that followed, that success saw Oakland out of the playoff hunt. The Athletics were 20 games over .500, but didn’t make the playoffs.
In 2006, his team took first, and then lost to the Tigers. He was promptly fired, and moved on to work the announcer’s booth for the Boston Red Sox.
The Milwaukee Brewers signed a two-year contract with Macha, passing over Willie Randolph and others.
