Labelled the next Ryan Braun, Gamel had difficulties this season keeping up with his teammates in the big-leagues. Originally, Gamel was brought up from the minors as the DH for interleague games, but because of the team’s low performances, Gamel was called up earlier and stayed later than planned. When Casey McGehee became the regular third baseman, Gamel saw less playing time and had trouble at the plate. Because of that, he went back to Class AAA Nashville. Unfortunately, he did not improve his hitting, going 3 for 21. In his 128 at bats with the Brewers, Gamel batted .242, hit 5 home runs, 20 RBIs, and struck out 54 times.
