Acquired from Tampa Bay in 2007, Seth McClung joined the Brewers in exchange for Grant Balfour. He spent time in triple-A Nashville before being called back up on August 21st.
After 14 appearances with the Brewers as a reliever, his ERA was 3.75. McClung was suspended for three games after hitting Albert Pujols with a pitch. After appeal, Seth’s suspension was revoked. McClung does hold the record for most base runners per 9.0 innings of any pitcher that has played in a minimum of 100 innings. In 2003, McClug was considered to be one of the top five pitching prospects when called up to play for The Devil Rays.
Seth McClung signed a one year deal with the Brewers in December of 2007.
This season, McClung was able to pitch both as a starter and a relief. However, he did not have as successful of a season as least year. McClung went 0-1 in just two starts with a 12.27 ERA. In May, he pitched around 15 innings as a relief and only allowed 13 runs. McClung's season ended early due to a sprained elbow ligament that benched him for over a month. McClung ended the season with a 4.94 ERA.
