More Info
The newest closing pitcher for Milwaukee was recruited for the infield at first. Cincinnati tried to mold Trevor Hoffman to their needs at shortstop. It panned out. Hoffman popped back up as a pitcher for the Florida Marlins. He played in two games in 1993, and then was shipped off to San Diego, where he stayed for the next fifteen years.

Throughout his time in San Diego, his ERA stayed below the league average. He struggles a bit in post-season play, but Milwaukee hopes that it will not take another 26 years to find that out. He holds the record for game saves at 554.

As a closer for San Diego, Hoffman came to Milwaukee after he failed to come to an agreement on a one-year deal. Sports writers from across the country agree that he will most likely find his way into the Hall Of Fame after his stellar career ends.

During the 2009 season, Hoffman exceeded expectations and was a lead saver of games proving that age can just be a number. The 41 year old pitcher was off the charts with holding down games, not allowing a run until his 19th game. He also was not scored on in 47 out of his 55 appearances throughout the season. His great contributions to the team in 2009 ensure a spot for this star player on the 2010 roster.
